Our Winter Sports Travel Insurance covers various elements of your winter sports holiday. Winter Sports Cover can be added as an optional extra on all Voyager Plus policies, be it a Short Stay, Long Stay or Annual Multi-Trip policy. Winter Sports cover is available on Short Stay policies where the trip duration does not exceed 31 days, on Long Stay policies for a total maximum of 31 consecutive days and on Annual Multi-Trips for a total maximum of 21 days.

In order to protect your winter sports trip you will need to select the 'Winter Sports cover' option when purchasing your travel insurance policy to include cover for winter sports-specific events.

What is covered under Voyager Plus Winter Sports Travel Insurance?

What’s more, we can provide cover for cross country skiing (Nordic skiing), glacier skiing, recreational racing, snowmobiling, mono skiing, off piste skiing or snowboarding (providing local safety guidelines and warnings are observed), on piste skiing or snowboarding, snowblading, sledging and tobogganing.

On your winter sports holiday you can rest assured that our Travel Insurance with Winter Sports Cover will provide protection for lost, damaged or stolen ski equipment that you own or have hired, unused, lost or stolen ski packs and piste closure (piste closure not available on long stay policies).

What is Piste Closure Insurance?

Piste closure cover means that you are covered up to a total maximum of £200 and £20 for each day that it is not possible to ski because lifts are closed due to a complete lack of snow, adverse weather conditions or avalanche danger in your pre-booked trip resort.

What is Ski Pack Cover?

Ski pack cover means that you are covered up to £400 for the proportionate value of any ski pass, ski hire or ski school fee that you are unable to use or recover due to accidental bodily injury, or sickness that prevents you from skiing, as medically certified or due to the loss or theft of your ski pass.

What is Ski Equipment Cover?

Ski equipment means that you are covered up to £800 for the loss, theft or damage to ski equipment that you either own, have borrowed or have hired. It also means you are covered for the cost of the hire of ski equipment following the loss, theft or damage of ski equipment insured by us as well the delayed arrival of ski equipment.

Am I Covered for Piste Rescue or Airlift?

Emergency Medical Expenses that is included as standard on Voyager Plus Travel Insurance is extended on the Winter Sports option to include the cost of piste rescue if medically necessary. Consequently, If the worst were to happen and you needed a helicopter to airlift you from the mountain, this is unlikely to be covered if you do not have Winter Sports cover. Therefore, it is extremely important to add Winter Sports cover to your Travel Insurance policy as even a short helicopter trip can cost £1,000s!
